Oisin MacDiarmada began playing the fiddle at an early age while living in Croisin, Co. Clare. During this time he came to know and admire the
legendary West-Clare fiddlers Joe Ryan, John Kelly, Bobby Casey, Junior Crehan and Peadar O'Loughlin at the Willie Clancy School. Outside the realm of
fiddle playing, the music of tin-whistle player Micho Russell was much enjoyed, while the keen ear of mother, Brid, was a further musical source.
Following Al1-Ireland fiddle and duet titles at the age of 10, Oisin, upon moving to Sligo in 1989, subsequently became interested in the Sligo/Leitrim
style of flute and fiddle playing. Key musical moments have included the lecturing work of Harry Bradshaw and Paddy Ryan on the music of Sligo / Leitrim, as well as listening
to the music of Josie McDermott, Peter Horan, Fred Finn and more recently Marcas O' Murchu and Colm O'Donnell. A regular tutor at summer schools and
an examiner of the CCE/RIAM Traditional Music Examinations, Oisin has completed an honours degree in Music Education in Trinity College
